Your Degree versus My Degree

In these hard economic times, a degree seems to be the only way to attain a decent paying job. With that said, does it matter what school you got the degree from? I was having a conversation with someone on BGC which went as follows:

BGC'er: Sometimes I feel as tho I sold myself short by going to Morgan
Me: Imma tell you like my grandmother told me. Going to any school of higher learning is an accomplishment in itself. As long as you get that degree it doesn't matter what school name is on there. U just goaa make it work for u.
BGC'er: grandmother is very wise....I never really thought of it like that.

Now it would be nice if we all could have a Harvard or Princeton, even Morehouse on our walls but that isn't the case. So no one should ever sell themselves short because they think they chose the wrong school. It's all about what you make of it. Morehouse or Harvard didn't become great schools just because of the name. It was the students that put these school on the map.

well if we all could attend Harvard the or Yale then they wouldn't be seen in such high regard so college is college in my book

if she could've gone to a better school, then she did sell herself short. College is college when both schools are pretty much comparable. Morgan is a tier-3 HBCU with a marginal reputation.
